DCOTT Free WiFi to Roll Out by July 2025. In a significant move toward digital transformation and public convenience, the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is set to launch free public WiFi this July 2025, enhancing the overall commuting experience for thousands of passengers who travel through the city’central terminal daily.

According to DCOTT Manager Aisa Usop, this initiative is part of the city’s continuing efforts to modernize and upgrade public facilities, ensuring they are aligned with the growing digital demands of both locals and travelers. With the support of the Department of Information and Communications Technology Region XI (DICT-XI), the DCOTT Free WiFi project is expected to go live just in time for the grand celebration of the Kadayawan Festival.

DCOTT Free WiFi refers to the soon-to-be-launched public internet access system within the premises of the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal. Once implemented, passengers waiting for their buses or other transport services can connect to a secure and stable internet network—completely free of charge.

This initiative supports the government’s Free WiFi for All Program, which aims to bridge the digital divide in public spaces, including terminals, parks, and other high-traffic locations.

In a recent radio interview on Davao City Disaster Radio Madayaw Program, Usop shared that the free internet service is scheduled to launch before the upcoming Kadayawan Festival, one of the city’s most iconic cultural celebrations. The timing is strategic, as this season brings a spike in terminal usage due to local and foreign tourists traveling for the festivities.

“We’re working hard to ensure that DCOTT Free WiFi is ready before Kadayawan. This will be a big help to travelers who need online access while waiting at the terminal,” Usop said.

Aside from the free WiFi at DCOTT, the terminal has recently undergone several infrastructure and service improvements to provide a safe, clean, and efficient transport hub for Davaoenos and tourists alike.

To cater to increasing commuter traffic, DCOTT has built new public comfort rooms at the Southbound bay, which are accessible free of charge. This ensures hygienic facilities are readily available to all passengers.

In response to security needs, the management has also installed additional CCTV cameras to monitor previously uncovered blind spots throughout the terminal. This move is part of the city’s safe commuting initiative aimed at improving public safety and passenger monitoring.

The free public WiFi at DCOTT is being deployed in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology Region XI (DICT-XI). DICT’s technical assistance ensures that the WiFi system will be secure, fast, and user-friendly for thousands of daily users.

This partnership aligns with DICT’s national goal of providing internet access in public places to promote digital literacy, inclusivity, and economic participation across all sectors of society.
